Welcome to Montargis

My name is Marie-France. I’m a retired 60-something, full of life and good humor. I’ve chosen to settle in Montargis, a charming little town in the Loiret region, affectionately known as the Venice of the Gâtinais.
On the banks of the Briare canal, I’ve found my haven of peace, where I now live to the quiet rhythm of barges and walkers.
With a wealth of experience in the hotel business, I love entertaining, cooking and above all… sharing.
So it’s only natural that I should open the doors of my gîte to you, conveniently located just a stone’s throw from the town center, the marina and its river atmosphere.
My guest rooms offer a peaceful and friendly setting for a pleasant break.
I’ll be delighted to welcome you with a smile, show you around my good addresses and give you some ideas for local walks and visits.
It doesn’t take long to feel at home here – but on vacation!
I look forward to welcoming you soon to my waterfront home!
My unusual detours
Here are three ideas for outings or activities – off the beaten track – that I like to suggest to my guests.

Bourdelle Garden
25 km north of Montargis, the art deco-style Musée-Jardin Départemental Bourdelle houses a collection of 58 bronze sculptures tracing the development of the work of Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929).
These sculptures are presented outdoors, in a garden where flowerbeds, conifers, etc. mingle.

Rowing in Montargis
Every Saturday from 09:00 to 12:00, except in bad weather, an introductory rowing course is organized by theAviron Club Montargis Gâtinais, located at the foot of the gîte.
After learning the basic safety rules and techniques, it’s a great opportunity to discover, alone or in a group, the first sensations of a boat on the water!

The Fabuloserie
Located 30 km east of Montargis, La Fabuloserie is a private museum that has been open to the public since 1983. The space was created by Alain Bourdonnais to house his collection of unusual art.
The collection brings together over a thousand creations by self-taught artists associated with art brut.
“Everything is strange. Everything is surprising. Everything is unusual. Everything assaults you. Everything enchants you.
